IN 2012, Glamsalt was founded in Upstate NY and Tokyo, (Yokohama) Japan, to invite customers to experience and appreciate the diversity, beauty, spirituality, and wellness aspects of salts sourced from around the world.

Since then, Glamsalt has been proving high-quality salts to restaurants and shops in NYC, Brooklyn, NJ, Miami , Austin, New Mexio, Washington. D.C and more!

Salt has been an influential and integral part of our human history politically, culinary and spiritually since ancient times. For example, salt was called “White Gold” because it was as powerful as gold. When the Dutch settlers moved into the Hudson Valley, seated “above the salt” signified a status that the guests were more honourable than for those who were seated “below the salt’. Roman soldiers were paid with salt (as it became to be called “salary’”) In the ancient kingdoms in the Sahara desert, kingdom made their vast fortune in trading salt and gold. In terms of the culinary tradition, salt has helped food to store longer periods of time as well as for curing produces. The world’s first dressing was salt which is why it is “salad” (“sal = salt in Latin). In cooking, salt has a transformational quality to make the food taste better. Spiritually, salt has been have purposes of protection and healing among different cultures. Salt is magic and magical. For example, In Japan, to this day, a mount of salt on a palte is put in the front of restaurants to ward off evils and to invite more customers. There was a Goddess of Salt being worshipped among the Aztecs. Salt is not just a condiement on a table. Salt has stories to tell.

Lady salt’s family has been involved in food industry for 3 generations ( her grandfather owned a rainbow trout farm that was told to the Japanese imperoal family) and she continues to carry her family tradition.
